| „Just a little Bit“ ist ein technischer IT-Blog über Virtualisierung, Cloud und alles was dazu gehört, betrieben von mir, Oliver Grassl. Der Untertitel „This business is binary, you’re a one or a zero. Alive or dead.“ stammt aus dem Film Antitrust (Startup) und meiner Meinung nach beschreibt er die Branche, in der wir arbeiten und deren Geschwindigkeit perfekt. Übrigens mag ich diesen Film, auch wenn ich weiß, dass er nicht der beste aller Zeiten ist, aber wen stört's ;-). | „Just a little Bit“ is a technical IT blog about virtualization, cloud and everything around it, maintained by me, Oliver Grassl. The subtitle „This business is binary, you’re a one or a zero. Alive or dead.“ comes from the film Antitrust (Startup) and I think it describes the business we work in and its speed perfectly. And by the way, I like this movie, even if I know that it’s not the best film ever, but who cares ;-). |

| Mein Name ist Oliver Grassl. Ich bin ein Virtualisierungs- und Cloud-Enthusiast und arbeite als Specialist Solutions Architect bei Amazon Web Services in Deutschland. Ich konzentriere mich auf die Lösungen und Produkte meiner favorisierten Hersteller VMware und Veeam. Aufgrund meines ausgeprägten technischen und betrieblichen Hintergrunds bei Cloud- und Managed Services-Providern verbringe ich den größten Teil meiner Arbeitszeit im Cloud Channel (Hosting) Team. Dort unterstütze ich unsere Service Provider bei allen Anfragen oder Problemen rund um die Programme VCPP/MSP (VMware) und VCSP (Veeam) und die darin enthaltenen Lösungen und Produkte. Meine professionelle IT-Reise begann im Rechenzentrum der Universität, in dem ich studienbegleitend Teilzeit gearbeitet habe. Dort machte ich meine ersten Erfahrungen mit Data Center Infrastruktur, Virtualisierung und insbesondere mit VMware und neben der Faszination war es Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Was für eine erstaunliche Technologie. Angesichts der Fähigkeiten und Vorteile, die VMware mit sich brachte, war der Bedarf an einer ähnlich hoch entwickelten Backup-Lösung groß. Nachdem ich mir verschiedene Produkte angesehen hatte, stieß ich auf Veeam - gemacht für VMware, einfach zu bedienen, agentenlos und zuverlässig - und ich verlor mein Herz erneut, weil - It just worked! Vor diesem Hintergrund dürfte es niemanden verwundern, dass fast sämtlicher Inhalt dieses Blogs in irgendeiner Weise mit VMware und Veeam zusammenhängt und er im Großen und Ganzen für Cloud- und Service-Provider gedacht ist. | My name is Oliver Grassl I’m a virtualization and cloud enthusiast and I work as a Specialist Solutions Architect at Amazon Web Services in Germany. I’m focused on the solutions and products of my favorite vendors VMware and Veeam. Due to my strong technical and operational background at cloud and managed services providers I spend most of my working time in the Cloud Channel (Hosting) team, supporting our service providers with every inquiry or issue around the VCPP/MSP (VMware) and VCSP (Veeam) programs and the solutions and products they include. I started my professional IT journey in the university’s data center, where I worked part-time alongside my studies. There I made my first experiences with data center infrastructure, virtualization and especially with VMware and besides fascination it was love at first sight. What an amazing technology. With the capabilities and advantages VMware brought to the table, the need for a similar sophisticated backup solution was high. After looking at different products I found Veeam - made for VMware, easy to use, agentless and reliable - and I lost my heart again, because – It just worked! With that in mind, it’s no wonder that almost every content on this blog is somehow related to VMware and Veeam and mostly meant to be for cloud and service providers. |
